UF welcomes record number of new faculty

More than 300 new faculty braved steady rainfall and navigated through students moving into their dorms last Friday to gather at the Stephen C. O’Connell Center’s Exactech Arena for the largest New Faculty Orientation in UF’s history. The university is welcoming nearly 600 new faculty this fall, due in large part to UF’s Faculty 500 hiring initiative.

Campus Connector free transit service and new RTS route launch this week

UF Transportation and Parking Services is proud to announce the launch of its new Campus Connector transit service. Additionally, Route 150 is a new RTS express bus service developed to connect faculty and staff from Haile Village Center to UF and UF Health with two stops at each end.

APA gives warm welcome to new TEAMS staff

More than 80 TEAMS staff employees received insight into four prominent UF administrators’ views on leadership as well as reflections on their own experiences as new UF employees at a “Warm Welcome” event hosted by the Academic and Professional Assembly (APA) on Aug. 15.

New director of Center for Latin American Studies

Carlos de la Torre, a veteran researcher in the field of Latin American studies and former professor in the Department of Sociology at the University of Kentucky, has been appointed director of the University of Florida Center for Latin American Studies, effective Aug. 2.

New EAP to offer improved access and expanded resources

Beginning this month, UF employees have access to vastly expanded resources to support both their own as well as their household members’ wellbeing. On Aug. 1, the University of Florida announced an expansion of the Employee Assistance Program (EAP) that provides UF employees in Gainesville, throughout Florida and worldwide with improved access to mental health counselors as well as enhanced worklife, financial and legal resources and services.
