Equal Opportunity for All

 Equal Opportunity Employment

At the University of Florida, we are dedicated to fostering an environment where every team member feels included, valued and empowered to perform their best work. As an Equal Opportunity Employer, UF is committed to creating and nurturing a fair and flourishing workplace for all.

UF strives to ensure that all employment opportunities are free from discrimination. For more details, you can refer to UF’s regulation prohibiting Discrimination and Harassment.

If you believe you have encountered discrimination at UF, we encourage you to file a complaint. We take these matters seriously and consider it your duty to report any concerns. By bringing forward such issues, you help us create a more fair and respectful environment.

 Disability Accommodations

UF values its commitment to supporting all employees to achieve success in their job. This includes recognizing that reasonable accommodations can help ensure access to, and success in, the workplace for employees with disabilities.

In compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act, 1990, and the Americans with Disability, Amendments Act, collectively the “ADA”, UF engages with qualified employees with disabilities in an interactive process to determine reasonable accommodations in the workplace.

Workplace accommodations are intended to foster access for employees with disabilities and qualifying conditions, mitigating the impact of disability-related limitations so that the employee can effectively perform the essential functions of their job and/or otherwise enjoy an equal employment opportunity. Accommodations come in many different forms and each request requires an individualized assessment that may result in a comprehensive individualized Accommodation Plan.

If you are an employee with a disability in need of accommodations, please contact the ADA Office. For more information, visit UF ADA and UF’s Accessibility and Reasonable Accommodations for Individuals with Disabilities Policy.

 Veterans’ Preference

UF offers veteran’s preference in appointment and retention for eligible veterans and their relatives, in accordance with the Vietnam Era Veterans’ Readjustment Act and Florida Statutes Chapter 295.07 and 295.11. You can find the Veterans’ Preference Worksheet online to view which UF positions are eligible for this preference.

For applicants, veterans’ preference means receiving additional consideration beyond what is earned through merit alone. Although UF does not use a scoring system for reviewing applicants, we ensure that qualified veterans receive a minimum of an initial interview if they claim and are eligible for preference. Additional information is available on UF’s Veterans’ Preference webpage or by contacting UFHR Talent Acquisition and Onboarding at (352) 392-2HRS (2477) or talent@hr.ufl.edu.
