Professionalism, Collegiality and Respect

Professionalism is about more than appearances or qualifications; it’s about how we conduct ourselves at work. It encompasses our demeanor, accountability, ethics, competence, reliability and much more.

At UF, we believe in clear and reasonable expectations for all employees. A positive work environment starts with teamwork. This means more than just working well with those we like or on projects we enjoy. True teamwork requires cooperation and diligence in all aspects of our work, even when it’s challenging.

Collegiality is all about the relationships between colleagues. When we approach our work with a collegial mindset, we recognize our shared purpose and respect each other’s abilities, roles and contributions.

Respect is another cornerstone of a productive workplace. It doesn’t mean we have to be friends, but it does mean valuing each person’s space, viewpoints, abilities, beliefs and personalities. Respect is a two-way street; when we show it, we are more likely to receive it in return. It’s a win-win for everyone.

As representatives of UF, our actions reflect on the entire Gator Nation. Let’s make sure that impression is always positive. By showing pride in your work, you’ll inspire pride in others as well.
