Leaving the University

 Voluntary Resignation or Retirement

While we hope your time at UF is fulfilling and long-lasting, we understand that circumstances may lead you to leave. If you choose to voluntarily resign, please provide advance notice to ensure a smooth transition. Employees in exempt positions should give one month’s notice, while those in non-exempt positions should provide at least two weeks’ notice. This helps us to manage your departure professionally and maintain continuity within the department.

 Re-Applying to UF

If you leave UF in good standing, whether through resignation, layoff or the conclusion of a time-limited appointment, you are welcome to reapply for positions at UF without a waiting period. We encourage you to consider rejoining our team in the future!

However, if you leave under less favorable circumstances, rehire eligibility may be affected. If you have questions about your rehire status, feel free to reach out to UFHR Talent Acquisition and Onboarding at (352) 392-2477 or via email at talent@hr.ufl.edu. We are here to discuss your specific situation and assist you as needed.
