Health & Retirement Benefits

Our comprehensive health and retirement benefits are designed to provide you with essential coverage and help you plan for a secure retirement.

Whether you’re looking for the right health insurance plan or exploring retirement options, we offer a variety of choices to meet your needs.

 Health Benefits

UF offers a diverse range of plans to meet your healthcare needs. In addition to standard health insurance, there are also dental and vision plans, long-term disability plans, and other supplemental insurance benefits.

The specific plans available may change annually. The My UF Benefits website is your go-to resource for reviewing current options and new plan updates, which will be introduced each year before Open Enrollment. Open Enrollment is your yearly opportunity to change your benefits elections, and it typically takes place from mid-October to the first week in November.

Benefits eligibility varies based on employee classification and prior employment with UF or the state. To learn your specific options, please refer to the Benefits Eligibility page.

Understanding all the benefits options can be overwhelming, but the Benefits team is here to help. We highly recommend attending one of the bi-monthly New Employee Benefits Orientations to get an overview of the available plans and enrollment procedures. If you have further questions, you can schedule an appointment with a UF benefits counselor online.

 Pro Tip:

New UF employees need to dive into benefits selections as soon as possible. You must complete your enrollments within 60 days from your hire, and we don’t want you to be left out in the cold!

 Retirement Plans

Planning for retirement is an important part of your financial future. Depending on your job classification, you may be eligible to participate in one of the state retirement plans, and voluntary savings plans are available for all employees.

For more information on your options, please visit the Retirement section of your Benefits Eligibility page. This video also covers highlights of the plans and some basic investment principles.
It is crucial to select your retirement plan before the enrollment deadline to ensure you get the plan that best suits your needs. We recommend that all employees enroll within 90 days from hire.
