Your UF Essentials: UFID, Keys & Badge Access

As a UF employee, you’ll receive an eight-digit UFID number, which is your primary identifier for all university records and transactions. Like a Social Security number, your UFID is unique to you and remains with you throughout your time at UF.

Your GATORONE ID is your official university identification. It includes your UFID, name, photo and relationship with the university. This identification grants you access to various buildings and offices and allows you to ride the Regional Transit System (RTS) for free. It’s an important part of your daily life at UF.

New employees can find more information on obtaining their GATORONE ID by visiting ID Card Services. You have the option of receiving a mobile ID and a physical card, with physical cards requiring departmental approval.

In some cases, your GATORONE ID will serve as your card access credential to gain access to certain buildings or offices. Physical keys will only be issued on buildings where card access is not available. Your supervisor will determine the type of access you need and if keys should be issued. It’s important to remember that both your GATORONE ID and keys are UF property, and you are responsible for their proper use.

This includes:

  • Not using, lending, borrowing or duplicating your GATORONE ID ID or university keys without authorization.
  • Knowing how to obtain access to buildings with card access via your department Lenel Administrator or through your department Key Coordinator.
  • Not propping any exterior door on campus to include academic, business or residence halls.
  • Avoiding unauthorized entry to university property, especially outside of work hours, unless you have prior approval from your supervisor.
  • Reporting any lost credentials immediately and returning physical keys upon the employees departure or resignation from a position.

These rules are crucial for maintaining the security of UF buildings and ensuring the safety of everyone inside. Knowing who has access to our facilities helps us keep our campus secure. Read more about your UFID on the UF Identity and Access Management website.
