Standards of Personal Appearance/Dress

UF values a professional work environment and expects all employees to dress in a way that reflects the demands of their roles.

Since dress codes can vary by department, it’s important to understand and follow the specific guidelines that apply to your work area. For instance, a department that interacts with the public or students may have different standards compared to a unit focused on physical work or operating in a lab with safety protocols.

To ensure you’re meeting department expectations, it’s best to discuss the appropriate dress code with your supervisor. Adhering to these guidelines helps maintain a professional atmosphere and shows respect for your colleagues.

In addition to following dress code policies, it is important to practice good personal hygiene. Be mindful of fragrances, as some people may have allergies or sensitivities to strong scents.

Dress code polices must be applied in a non-discriminatory manner and accommodations may be available based on religious beliefs or disability. For questions or concerns regarding dress expectations, please contact your supervisor or UFHR Employee Relations at EmployeeRelations@hr.ufl.edu.
