Engaging the UF community through Capoeira

Originally conceived in 2020 when the U.S. was going through a tumultuous period, the Engaging UF Through Capoeira workshop seeks to bring together the UF community through a physical, cultural and social activity that celebrates Afro-Brazilian culture. Participants will engage in low-impact capoeira movements and stretching accompanied by the traditional Afro-Brazilian instruments, singing and hand clapping.

“I practice Capoeira and believe in the philosophy of a village rallying together to do good,” said workshop organizer David O. Prevatt, Ph.D., professor of Civil & Coastal Engineering.

The workshop will take place this Tuesday, Feb. 22, at 5:30 p.m. at the Florida Gymnasium. Faculty, staff and students are welcome and encouraged to attend.
